Hello,
My name is Patrick, www.postcrossing.com/user/Gersyko, living in south-west of France.
I like to collect postcards with official postcrossing but also in direct swapping.
So this site is a way to show you the cards I can offer for trade.
As you see, it is not only an album as I like to tell something about the sites on the cards.
If interested in direct swapping send me a message to gersyko@gmail.com.
Thanks.

Location of BORDEAUX in FRANCE

Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux is a Roman Catholic cathedral, in Gothic style, seat of the Archbishop of Bordeaux-Bazas, located in Bordeaux. It is the main cult site of the city. It is comparable in size with Notre-Dame de Paris.

The cathedral was consecrated by Pope Urban II in 1096.

The nave, built in the 12th century, was altered in the 13th and 15th centuries ; the choir and transepts date from the 14th century. The west front is plain, since it was too close to the town walls. The finest feature of the exterior is the north doorway, richly decorated with sculpture (Las Supper, Ascension, Christ in Majesty) and flanked by two tall towers.

Also on the north side is the Porte Royale, with fine 13th century sculptural decoration (five figures of Apostles on each side of the doorway, Resurrection of the Dead on the lintel, Last Judgment in the tympanum).

Opposite the west front of the cathedral is the former Archbishop's Palace (18th C), now the Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall), with a handsome staircase hall and finely appointed rooms.

The building is a national monument of France.

In this church in 1137 the 15 year old Eleanor of Aquitaine married the future Louis VII a few months before She became Queen.

As a monument on the way
from Tours to Santiago de Compostela,

the Cathedral Saint-André of BORDEAUX
is registered as a UNESCO w.h.s.

Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France

Date of inscription : 1998

Santiago de Compostela was the supreme goal for countless thousands of pious pilgrims who converged there from all over Europe throughout the Middle Ages. To reach Spain pilgrims had to pass through France, and the group of important historical monuments included in this inscription marks out the four routes by which they did so.
